The earlier you screen for dyslexia, the earlier you can intervene to prevent reading and language deficits from becoming lifelong achievement gaps.

Effective reading programs include processes for early dyslexia identification and intervention. They also provide specialized training so teachers know how to help students, and progress monitoring to ensure those supports are effective.

Watch as Sally Grimes, Founding Director of the Grimes Reading Institute, explains what you need to know to build a reading program that supports students with dyslexia, including:

  • The key characteristics of dyslexia and related language disabilities
  • The importance of early screening in Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • Pre-literacy interventions to implement in Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • Other critical considerations when building your program, including infrastructure, PD, curricula, screening tools, and parental involvement
